Confession...I WAS a skin care junkie!

Confession….I was a product/skin care junkie! Before starting up with my current company, you could have sold me absolutely anything, as long as you had a convincing pitch. From TV commercials to infomercials to celebrities, you name it, chances are I tried it.

I remember when I was around 13 years old (keep in mind this is about 40 years ago), I was in the back seat of our car with the family and I asked my mom what a moisturizer was. Her answer? You’re too young for a moisturizer. Who’s thinking of moisturizers at 13? I probably got the idea from reading my Teen magazines. I would read up on what my favourite stars were using, their skin care products and make up tricks. I was at that age when makeup intrigued me and I started experimenting. If it was good enough for Marie Osmond, it was good enough for me.

Fast forward 40ish years and I am still on the lookout for the best tips and tricks. But I am happy to say, after spending hundreds of dollars and trying all kinds of products, I have finally found what works for me, agrees with my skin and gives me the best visible results!

Let me tell you about my journey that brought me to this company and these incredible products that I truly believe in and am overly passionate about.

I was always on the lookout for a good skin care line. I really didn’t care how much it cost as long as it did what it said it was going to do and it was something I could use long term. One of my first experiences was when I befriended a mom at my children’s school who had a display set up at one of the fundraisers the school put on. She convinced me to go to her home for a makeup session and to discuss skin care. Of course, I did. She worked for a direct selling company that has been around for a really long time so I thought, why not, I trusted her. I met up with her and tried the makeup, which I liked but was really nothing special. She then gave me a compliment saying I would do amazing in the business. Nope! I wasn’t interested in having makeup parties. Because I wasn’t good at saying ‘no’, I purchased $300 worth of makeup and skin care. Within a week, I returned the skin care because my skin became red and flaky. It was the retinol in the products. Cross that one off of my list. Oh, and I wasn’t able to get a refund, I had to use the credit to purchase a bunch of product I didn’t need or like!

Next I stumbled upon an infomercial and watched a celebrity pitching her skin care line. Of course, I was on it!! She looked amazing and I was going to look just as young and great as she looked. Spent more money, got the products, but not the results. Is it possible that her results were from plastic surgery or botox??? Hmm…

I went back to over the counter products, what choice did I have? I was using them just to use something. I didn’t find any difference in my skin but I needed toners, moisturizers and cleansers. I tried different products and settled for a popular over the counter anti-aging product line. Again, no results.

One Monday evening, I got a phone call from a friend asking me to go to her house ‘just to watch a presentation’ because she had just started on a new venture. She told me I didn’t have to buy anything but she would really appreciate my going to help her out. So I did, again, I can’t say no and what is the harm in supporting a friend? I knew about this company and I knew people who sold these products, my cousin had been one of them. I go and she gives this incredible presentation about what is in skin care and makeup and all of the chemicals and parabens and all about animal testing. Gross! That was enough for me…sign me up!! Then she mentions you have to buy these ‘gold bags’ which was going to cost me well over a thousand dollars (actually, I think it was more like a couple thousand). I wasn’t about to spend that kind of money without researching it a bit more. I called my cousin who was no longer with the company and asked her some questions about signing up. One thing she told me that no one else did was that I had to spend $150 every month to stay active. I decided to sign up as a preferred customer to see how I did and if anyone was interested then maybe I would drop the money and join. No one was interested and to be honest, I wasn’t interested in having house parties so I just stayed a PC to get products for myself. What I found was yes, the products smelled great, I loved using body washes, deodorants, makeup and anti- aging skin care but again, no real results. Very disappointing but not surprising! And on top of it, the $150 turned into over $200/month with shipping and taxes and getting product just to stay active. All of a sudden I had drawers and cupboards full of product.

Then Facebook enters my world and changes my whole life! I saw a friend posting before and after photos of her friends and family, people that I actually knew. I couldn’t believe the results these people were getting plus, I saw that my friend seemed to be doing fairly well in the business, ranking up quickly, getting a free ipad and in the running for a free Lexus! What have I got to lose? I wanted to try. I called her up and spoke a little about the product which was also chemical free…bonus! She asked ”Do you want to try it free for five days?” You mean I don’t have to spend tons of money only to find out I don’t like it or it doesn’t agree with my skin then be stuck with it? Are you kidding? Of course I’ll try it!

She brings it over, I tried it for the five days and no reaction...fabulous!! Maybe, just maybe I finally found what was going to work and something I could use long term. I ordered it and used it religiously for 90 days. I could have returned it after 30 days for a full refund but I wanted to make sure I gave it enough time to work its magic.

I looked in the mirror and of course, just like every other product I tried, empty promises. I called up my friend and said, it’s been 90 days and I don’t see a difference so I’m going to cancel my order. I’m not getting results that everyone else was getting. She said, “Rina, take a picture and compare it with your before picture you took 90 days ago”. OK, but I’m still cancelling because I don't see any improvement. I take the picture and compare before and after pictures…I nearly fell to the floor! I wasn’t sure if it was just me or if the results I was seeing were real. I sent her the pictures and asked her if she saw a difference. YES! The difference was so obvious (I’ve posted the picture in the Gallery, it's the first one, go check it out). Finally a product that does what it says it’s going to do! At that very moment, I jumped right into the company and haven’t looked back.

So as you probably can tell, when I believe in something and am truly passionate about it, I give it my all. I want to scream it from the roof top and share with everyone! I don’t fill people with empty promises. I am completely transparent and honest. I don’t photo shop pictures (I wouldn’t know how to even if I wanted to). Oh, and did I mention that I get my product for FREE every month?

I have never been with a company that actually lives up to its culture of truly helping people and is part of the ‘live happy’ movement. A company that gives back to cancer research and raises thousands of dollars for Big Brothers Big Sisters, a company that truly cares about people. What a refreshing change.
